The Mid-Hudson Engineers Week Committee celebrated Engineers Week 2011.  The annual Mid-Hudson Engineers Week Dinner was held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Anthony’s Pier 9, 2975 Route 9W, New Windsor, NY.

Dr. Habib Dagher:  Offshore Wind Energy  

Guest speaker Dr. Habib Dagher, the Director of the AEWC – Advanced Structures & Composites Center at the University of Maine. Established by the National Science Foundation in 1996, the 50,000 SF Center is housed in an integrated composites materials design, prototyping and testing laboratory. The Center is currently expanding with the construction of the Offshore Wind Laboratory. This laboratory, funded in part by $12.4 from NIST, will be unique in the world for its capacities for the design, manufacture and testing of structural hybrid composite and nanocomposite components for the wind industry.  Dr. Dagher is leading research efforts to deploy deepwater offshore wind farms in the Gulf of Maine.
